报告内容:Neuromorphic electronics has received extensive attention due to its potential applications in neuromorphic computing, neuro-prosthetics, and human-machine interface. Since the development of the first flexible artificial sensory nerve in 2018 (Figure 1), a number of biomimetic systems that emulate the working mechanisms of peripheral nerves have been developed, using the integration of sensors, neuromorphic devices and actuators. These systems are potentially applicable in restoring human “feelings”, controlling neuro-prosthetics, and creating compatible human-machine interface. The presenter will demonstrate the recent progress in his research group in developing such artificial sensory and motor nerves, as well as synaptic devices that works for information transmission and processing in these systems.

报告人简介:Wentao Xu is currently a distinguished professor at Nankai University, he received B.S. from Beijing Normal University and Ph.D. from Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH). He was a research associate professor at Seoul National University, and was a visiting scholar in Prof. John Rogers group at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) and in Prof. Zhenan Bao group at Stanford University. He is funded by National Key R&D Program of China (2021, 2022), the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars (NSFC, 2021), the Tianjin Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars (2019), and the Tianjin Haihe Talent Program (Leading Talent, 2018). His research mainly focuses on the field of flexible electronics, neuromorphic electronic devices, artificial sensorimotor neurons, and electrohydrodynamic nanowire printing techniques. He has published more than 70 papers as the corresponding/first author in Science, Science Advances, Nature Communications, Advanced Materials, and other journals. In 2022, he won the first prize of Tianjin Natural Science Award (Personal Ranking 1st). He is fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC). He currently serves as an editorial board member of the journal Cyborg and Bionic Systems.
